WATER & SANITATION
The goal of the WATSAN sector is to protect and promote the health status of most vulnerable individuals in targeted communities through increased provision of clean and safe water and appropriate sanitary facilities to HIV and AIDS affected and infected households. Activities are implemented in partnership with Pump Aid and the District Development Fund (DDF).

DISASTER PREPAREDNESS
It was agreed at Long Range Strategic Review meeting that was held in May 2006 that Disaster Preparedness should be added as a sixth strategic direction. It was identified that there are increasing disaster risks that threaten to set back the current programming gains. These include recurrent risks of drought or flooding in CARE’s operational areas and uncertain risks such as earthquakes. This includes both disaster preparedness and prevention at programming level, and disaster response capacity at organizational level.
